School Sport has been identified as the bedrock for sport development in the country hence the games were re-introduced in all public schools to ensure that all learners are provided with an opportunity to participate in school sport activities thus creating a platform for talent identification.

The Limpopo School Sport Winter Games are scheduled as follows;
Date: 17 June 2023
Venue: Capricorn High School (opening ceremony) Polokwane, Capricorn District
Time: 08:00

The participating schools and leaners will compete in the following sporting codes; Football, Netball, Rugby, Tennis, Jukskei, Khokho, Chess and Hockey.

Through these games, the culture of continuous participation in sport is instilled in athletes from an early age thus promoting lifelong participation in sport.

The qualifying leaners will be selected into Provincial Teams that will proceed to represent the Province during the National School Sport Championship that will take place from 3-7 July 2023 in Ekurhuleni.

Furthermore, the talented athletes will have an opportunity to be scouted and placed in sport focus schools for further nurturing and development.
