Commission for Gender Equality hosts webinar on Pyscho-social issues, 1 Oct

Gender Commission hosts a webinar on Pyscho-social issues relating to disability.

Tomorrow, the 1st October 2020 from 10h00 – 12h00, the Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) will be hosting a webinar on Pyscho-social issues relating to disability.

The Gender Commission has identified mental health as one of the key aspects within the Commission’s broader theme of social, health and reproductive rights challenges faced by women, especially women with disabilities. The Commission also believes that mental health is an important contributing factor in many instances of violence against women with disabilities.

The Commission therefore intends, through this webinar, to engage with experts and practitioners in the fields of mental health and disability among women, to gain greater understanding and insights into the mental health challenges and the socio-economic and other consequences facing women with disabilities. In addition, the Commission seeks to explore and understand current efforts and interventions, if any, from government, private and non-governmental sectors to address these challenges.

Panellists are:

  1. Ms. Lynn Norton- SADAG KwaZulu-Natal Co-ordinator
  2. Dr. Leah Mofomme – Private Consultant at Zwonaka Wellness Services.
