Ralf Guenter Hayward (50) will be sent back to his home country, Germany this evening to face charges of fraud.
Guenter was being sought by the Federal Republic of Germany on charges of fraud to the tune of EUR 1 074 587.00 (R11.8 million). In 2007, an extradition request was made by the German authorities.
After all the due processes were followed, Guenter appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates court this morning where he was found to be extraditable. An order was also issued by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development that Guenter be repatriated.
The suspect will be handed over to the German officers by NCB Interpol officers departing tonight at 19h40 from O R Tambo International.
The world has indeed become a much smaller place for criminals. It does not matter how far a criminal travels or how long it may take to arrest him, in the end, justice will prevail.
