Gender Equality extends condolences on passing of MP Beatrice Ngcobo

The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) sends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and relatives of the late Member of Parliament (MP), Ms Beatrice Ngcobo. The passing on of such a gender activist and parliamentarian will solely be missed by those who had embraced her and those that she had embraced over the years.

Ms Ngcobo served a Commissioner with the Commission for Gender Equality from 1997 – 2004. Within the CGE, she served in various committees in endeavour to help accelerate gender equality in the country, thus ensuring that a society free from gender oppression and inequality is realised. She was very passionate about human rights, disability matters and human capacity development. Ms Ngcobo had a wonderful rapport with both Commissioners and Staff.

“It is through heroines like her that today we have CGE, which has to ensure that whatever she fought for is not be in vain. As the Commission we mourn and henceforth celebrate the life well spent. Indeed, the country will surely miss her”, said Ms. Lulama Nare, the Chairperson of the Commission for Gender Equality.

On behalf of the Commission for Gender Equality, “We say your memory and what you laboured for will be your legacy. We shall never forget the footprints you left behind” Ms Nare added.

Rest in Peace! Robala ka khotso, Etlela hi ku Rhula!!!
