Scheduled drilling and blasting operation at R511

The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport hereby notifies motorists and residents around the R511 Road near Centurion of drilling and blasting operations scheduled for 22 and 26 February 2018 from 09h00 to16h00. The road will be closed on both dates.

The R511Road links Gauteng with the North West Province and serves as a major inter-provincial route from Midrand towards the neighbouring province. It also serves as a collector and distributor of traffic for rural areas and towns.

The department is currently undertaking a R150 million rehabilitation project on the R511 in an effort to reduce congestion as well as facilitate development of tourism in the surrounding areas.

Furthermore, the road project is envisioned to provide skills development opportunities, training and economic empowerment to BEE’s and SMME’s as well as improve linkages between various economic nodes and development corridors.
