Gauteng Roads and Transport on partial Wierda road closure

Partial closure of Wierda Road near N14 Freeway due to a possible sinkhole

Motorists are hereby advised to avoid Wierda Road near the N14 Freeway due to a possible developing sinkhole in the City of Tshwane. 
 
As a precautionary measure, both sections of the road have been partially closed to traffic. 

Partial road closures are as follows:
1. M10 / (K103) Solomon Mahlangu/ Wierda Road between Ashwood Dr and M24 (to Valhalla by Sasol Garage)
2.On-ramp access to Laudium and Sunderland Ridge 
 
Alternative roads to be used are:
1. M34 (Jean Avenue)
2. M24 to Valhalla (Snake valley Road) 
3. M18 Botha Ave linking the R101 Old Joburg Road
 
The closure is expected to be in effect for the foreseeable future as engineers and officials will be conducting investigations.
