The Department of Correctional Services has today served Advocate Tozama Mqobi with a letter confirming the decision of the arbitrator to dismiss her following the finalisation of a disciplinary process that found her guilty of fraud, flouting of legislation and Correctional Services’ code of conduct.
The department has had to deliver the letter today, 5 November 2010 to Advocate Mqobi’s representative as she could not be located yesterday to confirm the sanction imposed by the Arbitrator to “summarily dismiss” her with effect from 3 November 2010.
The Department of Correctional Services welcomes the decision and the outcome as it enables it to move on, fill the vacancy and ensure that appropriate leadership is in place to help in taking delivery of correctional services to a higher level.
The Department of Correctional Services has a zero tolerance approach to fraud, corruption and serious maladministration and is committed to implement the approach without fear or favour. The zero tolerance stance has been strongly endorsed by the current leadership of the Department of Correctional Services.
