The Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) would like to convey its condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones due to the recent heavy rains in the province. "We want the families to know that as the provincial government we feel with them and through various municipalities, will provide assistance to those who have been affected by these floods," said Premier Nomvula Mokonyane.
The Gauteng Department of Local Government and Housing (DLGH), is coordinating the relief efforts jointly with the Emergency Management Services of affected Municipalities. The DLGH is responsible for the organisation of the province's disaster management - including the Disaster Management Fund. "We applaud the support already demonstrated by the caring citizens of Gauteng and we call on all our communities to continue lending a helping hand to those affected by this natural disaster," said the Premier.
