Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation MEC, Molebatsi Bopape, sends her deepest condolences to the family and friends of boxer Phindile Mwelase.
“The tragic passing of is Ms Mwelase is truly a devastating loss to the boxing community. Ms Mwelase was an inspirational figure for her determination, perseverance will to succeed as female boxer fighting to make a name for herself in the male dominated sport. It is heartbreaking to see yet another young life with so much potential come to an untimely end,” say the MEC.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones and the boxing community of South Africa. May her beautiful soul rest in peace and her life be an inspiration of the fighting human spirt,” said MEC Bopape.
This week has really shattered the nation on losing such sports men and women so tragically, just as we were coming to terms with the passing of Mulaudzi, Senzo Meyiwa and now Phindile Mwelase. Indeed the nation is in mourning.
