The Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko has learned with shock the brutal rape of a 47 year-old mentally ill woman by a person known to the family in Zola, Soweto.
"No stone will be left unturned in the Criminal Justice System to bring the perpetrator to book. We need to stand together as communities and continue to fight against this scourge of people who prey on the vulnerable.
As the department through Ikhaya Lethemba; a one stop centre for abused women and children; we are in the process of engaging the family with the aim to provide medico-legal assistance as well as counseling for the victim," said MEC Mazibuko.
