Committee welcomes wage settlement between NUMSA and BOC
The Committee of Roads and Transport in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature welcomes the wage agreement reached between workers affiliated to Numsa and the Bombela Operating Company (BOC) which has brought the strike to an end.
The committee would also like to thank the CCMA in their assistance in the negotiations and settlement. The committee urges both parties to continue creating workable solutions to challenges faced in the public transport sector.
While the department is given an opportunity and time to establish and Transport Authority Gauteng (TAG), the committee reemphasizes that commuters in Gauteng have fewer public transport options that run services effectively and efficiently like the Gautrain. Therefore, any disruption to services should always be avoided or minimized for the benefit of commuters in the province.
