Accreditation of the media for the fifth opening of the fifth Legislature to be hosted in Gauteng Provincial Legislature
The Gauteng Provincial Legislature will be hosting the opening of the Legislature on 24 February 2014. The Opening of the Legislature is an annual ceremonial event on the parliamentary calendar and is a platform for the Premier of Gauteng to communicate the provincial government’s programme and priorities for the ensuing financial year.
This gives the Gauteng Provincial Legislature an opportunity to engage stakeholders on the strides made in implementing its Law Making, Public Participation, Oversight and Budget Process mandates in Gauteng, amongst others. The event will be attended by dignitaries from National Government, Provincial Legislatures, Gauteng Local Government, Municipalities, and business and community leaders.
The event will commence with a police parade at 10h00, linked with exciting cultural activities and social interactions. The Premier of Gauteng Ms Nomvula Mokonyane will deliver the State of the Province Address (SOPA) at 12h00.
Members of the media are required to be accredited to attend the proceedings by forwarding their full details including name and surname, ID numbers and name of the media company. Closing date for accreditation is 14 February 2014; please RSVP by then before 16h00.
Please note: No accreditation will be done on the day of the event.
Accreditation Photocards can be collected from 19 to 23 February 2014 at the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Cnr Loveday and President Street, JHB CBD.
