Gauteng Education MEC Barbara Creecy last month launched the Executive Leadership Development Programme specially designed for our HODs and DDGs at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). The programme will be facilitated by the Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) through GIBS.
The programme is intended among others to refine and polish critical leadership skills and competencies needed for executives to lead the province strategically. It also aims to build strong public sector leadership culture and enhance relationships across departmental functional areas.
The MEC highlighted that this programme will not be teaching our executive leaders new skills but it will equip them on how to better deal with the challenges and pressures that come with their jobs. “The commitment I am making is that I will go into the programme myself,” she said.
The first group will start on 27 October 2011.
