The Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Lebogang Maile accompanied by Blue Bulls players will lead the Provincial Magnificent Rugby Friday Campaign in Eesterus, Tshwane on Friday.
The campaign is aimed at mobilising communities to rally behind the Springboks who are participating in the world cup from the 9 September to 23rd October 2011 by wearing green and gold on Magnificent Fridays and flying the SA flag high.
“As the current champions of the Rugby World Cup let’s all show that we are indeed an exceptional sport-loving nation by supporting our boys as they defend their trophy. On behalf of the Gauteng Provincial Government, I would like to urge all Gauteng residents and the Tshwane people to go all out in full support of the Springboks and wear their green and gold, said MEC Maile.
The event on Friday will be marked by a range of activities including, coaching clinics by local rugby teams and some members of the Blue Bulls team as well as cultural performances by local and top South African artists. Gauteng will be rolling out this campaign in various regions to create the hype and community support for the Springboks.
