In line with the announcement by Premier Nomvula Mokonyane regarding the Gauteng Film Commission, the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation (SACR) is now officially the new home thereof as of 1 April 2012.
To resume the function the department would like to announce the appointment of Mr Mzwandile Masina as the acting CEO of the Commission with immediate effect.
Mr Mzwandile Masina is currently the Chief Operations Officer (COO) in SACR.
Earlier in March when announcing the migration, Premier Mokonyane said: “...in pursuit of finding more synergies in the way government works, we are (today) announcing that the Creative Industries and the Gauteng Film Commission will shift from the Department of Economic Development (DED) to the more suited position within the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation under MEC Lebogang Maile”.
In accepting the role as Acting CEO, Mr Masina has committed himself and the department to ensuring a smooth transition of the Gauteng Film Commission into SACR and making sure that a solid foundation is created for the commission to make Gauteng the home of film making in South Africa.
