The Gauteng Department of Finance (GDF) rejects decision in a disciplinary case involving a senior manager

The Gauteng Department of Finance has rejected the decision of the Chairperson in a disciplinary case involving one of its senior managers, Mr Alfred Khana. We believe that the decision of the Chairperson is flawed and did not consider the veracity of the charges. In the meantime, Mr Khana is in the department, while we explore our options.

It is important to point out that GDF is committed to the fight against fraud and corruption, and as such the department has adopted a zero tolerance approach in this regard. The department has spent a total of R4.6 million on the Khana matter and other disciplinary cases involving employees.

These include the investigation and prosecution of another case of theft and misappropriation of GDF assets by the Director: Labour Relations who resigned summarily when confronted with evidence of wrong doing.
