Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) concerned about the Bogus Vet

Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) learned with dismay that a certain Jimmy Hawley is operating a make-shift bogus veterinary clinic in Brakpan, Ekurhuleni.

The bogus veterinarian is putting the life of Ekurhuleni communities and broadly of Gauteng into a compromised position by practicing what he is not knowledgeable about. During the past few months, Gauteng encountered the rabies outbreak and bogus veterinarians such as Hawley put people's lives at risk because the pets taken to him did not receive the king of treatment as they were not attended by an expect. He is putting the life of the owners and communities around at high risk because of the assumption that their pets are vaccinated.

GDARD also learned that Jimmy Hawley is defying the court and laws of this country by continuing practising despite the warning and caution by Brakpan Magistrate Court.

The department is calling on community members to reject the services of this bogus veterinarian. People are encouraged to visit your nearest State Veterinary Services and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in their area. GDARD state Veterinarian in Ekurhuleni can be contacted at 011 821 7700.

The department would like to thank SPCA for following up on the matter in the interest of protecting communities in the area.
