Gauteng Agriculture on free veterinary services for Temba community

Gauteng state veterinarians attend to animals from around Temba and neighbouring communities on a daily basis at the animal clinic opend in the area.

According to Chief state veterinarian Dr Faculty Baloyi, the facility is very busy, showing that people appreciate the services provided. State veterinarians and animal health technicians provide free veterinary services daily to communities who would otherwise not be able to afford private veterinary services. Baloyi says that pet owners who heed the call to take their pets for vaccinations and general health consultation play a key role in combating diseases such rabies, a potentially fatal disease if  left untreated.  Rabies is easily passed on to humans as pets are in close contact with their owners.

Pets with other ailments including those with wounds are treated at the clinic. Sterilisations to ensure population control and eradicate strays are also a done on appointment.
