Primary reasons for the increase
1. 20c per litre Fuel levy as announced by the Minister of Finance in his Budget Vote speech 2012.
2. 8c per litre Road Accident Fund levy announced by the Minister of Finance in his Budget Vote speech of 2012.
3. Primary Transport costs (0 – 22c per litre) based on the NERSA pipeline tariffs and the Road Freight Association rates).
4. The average increase in the crude oil prices as well as international prices of finished products accounted for changes in the Basic Fuel Price (BFP).
5. The strengthening of the Rand against the Dollar cushioned the fuel prices increases by 5c per litre.
NB: The detailed fuel prices adjustment per Magisterial District Zone (MDZ) will be available on Tuesday, 3 April 2012.
