Fuel price adjustment on Wednesday, 7 September 2011

These fuel price adjustments will be effected on Wednesday, 7 September  2011.

During the current fuel price review period, 29 July to 1 September 2011, the average international product prices of Petrol, Diesel and Illuminating Paraffin decreased.

The average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate weakened when compared to the previous period. The average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate for the period 29 July 2011 to 02 September 2011 was 7.0590 compared to 6.8353 during the previous period.

The deterioration of the Rand against the US Dollar increased the contribution to the Basic Fuel Price by about 20.0 c/l.

The following changes in the fuel price will be implemented with effect from 7 September 2011:

  Petrol (All grades)   9c/l cents per litre increase in retail price
  Diesel 0.05% Sulphur   0c/l no change
  Diesel 0.005% Sulphur   0c/l no change
  Illuminating Paraffin (Wholesale)   2c/l cents per litre decrease in wholesale price
  Illuminating Paraffin (SMNRP)   3c/l c/l decrease in the Single Maximum National Retail price (SMNRP)
  Maximum Retail Price for LPGAS   0c/kg no change
