A traffic official from the Department of Police, Roads and Transport died tragically in a road accident today near Kroonstad on the N1. The traffic official was attending to an accident scene where a truck rolled over.
While the traffic officials, SAPS and fire department were managing the traffic at the accident scene, an oncoming truck crashed into the scene. The truck hit two traffic officers, a police vehicle, a traffic vehicle, as well as the fire truck.
The traffic official died on the spot and the other traffic official was critically injured and was admitted to the nearest hospital.
