Minimal increase in motor vehicle registration and licensing fees
As from 1 May 2015 the Department of Police, Roads and Transport in the province will increase some licensing and motor registration fees with only by between 5% and 8%.
Fees for application of driving licences for codes C1, C, EC1, EC will stay at R232, Codes B or EB is still R206 Code A1 and A is unmoving on R166. Application for a learners licence (R92), issue of a learners licence (R48), issue of a driving licence card (R186) and application for a temporary driving licence (R48) are some of the categories that will not increase during the 2015/16 financial year.
Motor vehicle registration fees increases with a mere 6% from R92 to R106 per vehicle. Other increases relate to vehicles of a certain weight. There is a 7% increase in licensing fees of vehicles with a TARE between 0-750 and a 6% increase in vehicles of TARE 751 and over. For example, the annual registration fee of a motor vehicle of between TARE 501-750 increases from R252 to only R270 and slightly heavier motor vehicles of TAREs 1251-1750’s registration fees increase from R510 to R540.
