The MEC for Police, Roads and Transport in the Free State province, Honourable Butana Komphela, congratulated Thabong Police Station for out-performing all Police stations countrywide at the South African Police Service’s Annual Excellence Awards 2014. The station was chosen as the best performing Police station in South Africa.
The MEC also congratulates the excellent job done by the men and women in blue and the selfless dedication they display daily to fight crime within communities. He wants to pose a challenge to those stations that are lacking behind to excel in their service delivery and make the province proud during the next annual awards.
The MEC says this award is an indication that the Free State province is doing well in ensuring crime is curbed. It was not by accident that the winner of this award comes from the Free State province.
“You will remember the Province also came first in the country with regards to Matric results of 2013,” says MEC Komphela.
He says this achievement was made possible by the healthy relationship between the Thabong Police Station and its stakeholders. The awards are also an indication that the Free State Provincial Crime Prevention Strategy (PCPS) is already bearing fruits. The Provincial Crime Prevention Strategy for the Free State is the first of its kind in South Africa and it serves as the blue print for all crime prevention initiatives in the Province.
