The Free State Provincial Government notes and welcomes the decision of the Free State Legislature to postpone the official opening of the Provincial Legislature for the year 2018, pending the announcement of the opening of the Parliament and the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) for this year. The Free State Provincial Government shall await the announcement of the new date of the tabling of the State of the Nation Address and comply accordingly.
“The postponement of the SOPA shall not affect the smooth running of government. The Free State Provincial Government shall also ensure that service delivery shall not be affected by the postponement of the SOPA. We urge all our stakeholders and the members of the community to exercise utmost patience in this period, and to allow the legislative and executive spheres of the state to find finality on the matter” – Director-General, Mr. Kopung Ralikontsane said.
