The Free State Legislature conveys to the province and the country as a whole the sad news of the passing on of the Speaker, Hon. Sisi Mabe. Today, the 30th November 2014, at around 14h30, the Speaker succumbed to death at Vereeniging Medi-Clinic. During her lifetime, Honourable Sisi Mabe, served in many structures of the Alliance and the ANC, including in the National Working Committee since 2012.
She also served in many levels of our democratic government including in the Executive Council as the MEC responsible for Health and subsequently Public Works and Rural Development. At the time of her passing on, Honourable Sisi Mabe, was serving as the Speaker of the Fifth Legislature following the 2014 National General Elections. She was a strong woman, brilliant and yet humble. She was a real servant of the people and her death is a great loss to our country.
The Free State Legislature will host a Media Briefing on the 1st December 2014, at 12H00, at Southern Life Plaza, 6th Floor, to communicate full details to the public through the media on the process and programme that will follow as part of ensuring that funeral arrangements are conducted in an open but sensitive and dignified manner befitting the stature of our Speaker.
