Free State Health on service delivery progress

Our detractors are playing to the public gallery and are determined to continue appealing to some sections of the media to pursue their objective of discrediting government. We have never said that there are no mishaps in the Free Stare health system. However, the gross exaggerations are appalling and are meant to do nothing else but to achieve the change of regime.

We are continuing, however to provide health services to our people despite the objectively unfavourable economic climate, budgetary, and personnel constraints. We remain committed to strengthening the health care systems effectiveness by delivering the life sustaining results.

We reported to the Legislature on Tuesday, 10 November 2015 that:

  • 1 141 986 of the expected 2 763 024 are now using the clinics as primary health care facilities this decreasing the burden on higher levels of care
  • We are making head way in improving our rate of resolution of complaints having resolved 107 of the set target of 137. Some of the cases are taking long due to the complexity of issues involved and the indepth investigations that the department is doing as part of our adverse events and root cause analysis of certain occurrences. When a patient dies we investigate each case thoroughly in the best interests of our clients and the public.
