The Hubei University of Technology in the People’s Republic of China confers various degrees to 34 Free State students
The Hubei University of Technology in the People’s Republic of China has conferred various degrees to 34 Free State students at a momentous ceremony, held at the Hubei University of Technology, a public multi-discipline institution specializing in engineering. Founded in 1952, the Chinese higher learning establishment located in Hugong Residential Community, Shizishan, Hongshan, Wuhan, Hubei, China.
The Free State Provincial Government delegation attending the occasion was led by Special Advisor to the Premier, Prof. Aubrey Mokadi, who was accompanied by Mr Pakiso Lebone, Chief-Director, Sustainable Resources Management, Provincial Treasury, and Mr. Moses AK Kau, Head: Intergovernmental Relations in the Office of the Premier.
The ceremony was also attended by various dignitaries including leaders of different Departments of the Hubei University, faculty and staff members, and the family members of the graduates.
In total, 65 Bachelors Degrees and 3 Masters Degrees were conferred to international students from various countries, and 20 students in total where awarded for outstanding performance. Twelve (12) out of the 20 students, who come from various countries, are from the Free State.
The 34 Free State students were awarded Bachelors Degrees as follows:
- 8 in International Economy and Trade;
- 2 in Chemical Engineering and Technology;
- 8 in Environmental Engineering;
- 1 in Computer Science and Technology;
- 1 in Human Resources Management;
- 2 in Biotechnology;
- 8 in Bioscience;
- 1 in Marketing Management; and,
- 3 in Pharmaceutical Engineering.
The Premier of the Free State, Sisi Ntombela has applauded the students, whose ceremony comes just a day after the Province celebrated being number 1 in the country in terms of the Grade 12 pass rate, with a record breaking 88,4 %. “This achievement by our students abroad emphasizes the Free State Government’s passion for education and our collective desire to leave a lasting legacy that will increase the number of appropriately skilled people that will, in the future, meet the province’s demands”, said Premier Ntombela.
