Four suspects have been arrested for the rape and murder of a 23-year-old girl at Majeje village in Namakgale, Phalaborwa. The victim was on her way from a local tavern when she was confronted by four men who allegedly took turns into raping and strangled her before leaving her for dead on Sunday morning.
The badly hurt victim managed to tell the police the name of one of the suspect before surrendering her life at a local hospital due to throat and other internal injuries.
The first suspect was arrested on Sunday in Elim, just outside Makhado, whilst the other two were in Majeje yesterday. The fourth suspect was brought to the police by his parents today.
The four suspects, aged between 19 and 31, will appear before the Lulekani Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
