The Roossenekal police in Limpopo made a major breakthrough by arresting four suspects in connection with the possession of copper wires.
The suspects were arrested this morning at about 7h00 along the R555 road in Roossenekal. The police were doing normal patrols when a Toyota bakkie suddenly sped into the bushes after noticing the police. The three suspects tried to escape but were apprehended. The police also arrested a motorist who was driving a Toyota sedan car that was in front of the Toyota bakkie.
The four are suspects are reportedly from Apel (3) and one from Malipsdrift near Lebowakgomo. The burnt copper wires are estimated at more than R200 000.00. Preliminary investigations indicate that the copper wires might have been stolen from Polokwane or surrounding areas.
The four suspects, who are aged between 30 and 41, are expected to appear before the Laersdrift Magistrates court tomorrow for further police investigations.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo has applauded the good work rendered by the members and reiterated that police will always be vigilant in ensuring that people dealing in copper wires are dealt with accordingly.
