Paraguay has reported a Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on 19 September 2011.
The Directorate Animal Health hereby confirms that until further notice no veterinary import permits will be issued for cloven-hoofed animals and their products originating from Paraguay. Unused veterinary import permits will be cancelled.
Animal products processed in accordance with OIE recommendations for the inactivation of the FMD virus, are excluded from this suspension.
Any containers that have been dispatched already will be dealt with as determined by the Director: Animal Health.
