North West MEC Mahlakeng Mahlakeng gives thumbs up to a pronouncement by Premier Maureen Modiselle to locate his department’s financial management in the Department of Finance.
North West MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport, Mahlakeng Mahlakeng, today Wednesday welcome Premier Maureen Modiselle pronouncement to put the financial administration of his department under the Department of Finance. “This move has in part vindicated the position we took in early September (this year) when we put on precautionary suspension and with immediate effect, our Chief Director.
“This we did so that we can give also space to a forensic investigation by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, to probe the general pattern of expenditure and management of finances in the roads management directorate,” said Mahlakeng.
“We have indeed been proactive and I’m happy to announce that PricewaterhouseCoopers have indeed covered a lot of ground during their investigation, I am encouraged and pleased by the progress thus far. “Circumstances permitting, I also hope to make an announcement soon in relation to the findings and well as the recommendations in the PricewaterhouseCoopers report which I am hoping to get shortly. I also hope to make pronouncements on the way forward,” Mahlakeng said.
