The Ministry for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities welcomes the confirmation by the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga that the news report alleging the trafficking of children between South Africa and Mozambique are false.
The ministry is pleased by the extensive efforts that have been made to increase community awareness about the risk of human trafficking and the security measures that have been put in place to prevent and deal with such incidents.
The ministry encourages all members of the public to report any suspicions of trafficking and other forms of abuse of children and women to the police and social workers immediately.
