Pet owners in Etwatwa will commemorate World Rabies Day by vaccinating their pets to protect their community from this dangerous disease. The Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) veterinarians will provide free rabies vaccination services on the day.
Over 50 000 vaccines have also been distributed to private veterinarians affiliated to the South African Veterinary Association (SAVA) to enable pet owners access to free services closer to their homes.
“We call on communities to take advantage of the opportunity. Bringing your pet for a free rabies vaccination is crucial in combating this dangerous disease in the province,” says MEC Mayathula Khoza. Other partners committed to the campaign are Pfizer and Royal Canin.
The media is invited to attend and use the opportunity to interact with pet owners in the area.
