Equity drive cruises countrywide

The Employment Equity campaign went into top gear today with the Department of Labour officials urging employers in Mpumalanga and Limpopo to submit their reports on-line for their convenience.

This follows the impressive 90 percent submission of reports on-line last year “without errors” which were captured in the public register. In total, 16 698 reports were received in the same year.

The public register entitles companies that have reported to a good name as it shows that they have complied or are in the process of complying. It also helps those applying for tenders.

Phaphama Ntsenge, Assistant Director responsible for policy development said, “We are proud to say that more employers are reporting on-line and their confidence in the system is growing by the day.”

He said the deadline for on-line submission is 16 January next year.

Turning to the newly amended draft code of good practice on HIV and AIDS in the world of work, Lucia Rayner, Deputy Director responsible for registry, said it aims to promote and enhance a non-discriminatory and safe working environment as well as management of HIV and AIDS in the workplace.

Rayner said the Employment Equity road-show will continue in the Free State and Eastern Cape tomorrow.
