Rhino poaching update

The total number of rhino poached in South Africa since the beginning of 2014 has increased to 172, as the number of people arrested for rhino poaching-related offences climbed to 54.

The Kruger National Park remains hardest hit by rhino poaching, having lost 113 rhino since 1 January 2014. A total of 18 rhino have been poached for their horn in Limpopo, 17 in North West and 11 in KwaZulu-Natal.

A total of 24 poachers have been arrested the Kruger National Park and 15 in KwaZulu-Natal. South Africans are urged to report incidents of poaching and tip-offs to the anonymous tip-off lines 0800 205 005, 08600 10111 or Crime-Line on 32211.
