Several government departments gathered at Sweetwater Community Hall in Sweetwater location, King Williams Town to shed light with the community of Sweetwater.
Social Development, South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), South African Police Services (SAPS), Office of the Public Protector, Home Affairs and Health Department invited community members of Sweetwater for information sharing session.
The main purpose of this session was to let people of Sweetwater know of these government department’s key roles in respect of service delivery to the public. The session took the approach of each government department representative defining the role of his/her department, before allowing questions from the audience.
Social Development and SASSA received much attention from the audience as matters of social grants took the centre stage. Many still did not differentiate the role of SASSA from that of Social Development. Concerns about the behaviour of social work professionals were also raised.
