Energy on resignation of NERSA Chief Executive Officer, Ms Phindile Baleni

Change of leadership at NERSA

After four years of dedicated professional leadership at the National Energy Regulator, the Chief Executive Officer, Ms Phindile Baleni (née Nzimande), has decided to resign from her position, to pursue other interests.

The Ministry and the Department of Energy, would like to thank Ms Phindile Baleni (née Nzimande), for her commitment, dedication and excellent contribution to the energy industry in the country and beyond, during her term of office as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Energy Regulator.

The energy industry has benefited greatly from her excellent mind, fine work ethic and integrity. It is our wish, as the Ministry and Department of Energy, that she will continue to make a great contribution to the energy sector and to socio-economic and infrastructure development in South Africa and beyond the continent.

The Department of Energy will soon embark on the process of recruiting a new CEO, and it will do so with the comfort of immense support from the NERSA team and stakeholders in the energy industry. Whilst the search for replacement CEO is ongoing, the Minister of Energy will appoint an interim Chief Executive Officer for NERSA.

It has truly been an honour to work with Ms Baleni (née Nzimande) and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
