Employ more people with disabilities and minorities, Premier Modise

The North West Premier Thandi Modise has ordered provincial government departments within her administration to employ more people with disabilities, whites, coloured and Indians as part of building an inclusive society.

In responding to the Premier's plea, Exco in its meeting held in Mahikeng on Wednesday reaffirmed its position that while every effort should be made to monitor regional spread and representivity, attracting the requisite skills from among citizens across the country needed to improve service delivery to communities should not be compromised.

“Departments should go beyond placing people with disabilities as interns to employing them in the public administration and consciously advance to surpass the set 2% target. They also need to accelerate employment of women to executive positions and not confine them to positions of secretaries, cleaners and tea ladies,” stressed Premier Thandi Modise.
