Economic study to review thresholds for AgriBEE

The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) together with the Black Economic Empowerment in Agriculture (AgriBEE) Charter Council would like to announce the commissioning of the Economic Study for the review of the current annual turnover thresholds for the AgriBEE. The purpose of the study is to review the thresholds for Exempted Micro-enterprises (EME) and Qualifying Small Enterprises (QSE), which is R5 million for EME and between R5 million and R35 million for QSE as contained in the AgriBEE Sector Code.

The study is an initiative of the AgriBEE Charter Council and the council would like to invite all agricultural sector stakeholders to participate in the process.

The study will be conducted by the National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC), through its appointed service provider, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

PwC will embark on a stakeholder engagement drive and the Acting Chairperson of the AgriBEE Charter Council, Mr Edwin Mohlahlo, will be part of the stakeholder engagements.

The outcomes and recommendations of the thresholds study will inform the appropriate turnover levels for EME and QSE for the AgriBEE Sector Code.
