In a quest to create a conducive environment for the youth within the department a Youth Forum was launched at the Head Office in King Williams Town on 1 August 2012.
The programmatic focus of this forum will be on empowerment, education, Financial Management, and Sport and recreation, Human Resource Management and social responsibility.
"Today we launch the Departmental Youth Forum inaugural meeting to celebrate the heroism of the 1976 generation and I think we mustn’t ever forget that. With that spirit we recommit ourselves as young people to particular identify and fulfill the dreams of young people and I also need to say, from the management perspective, that this is a non political organisation and is nonunionised and it should be in the interests of the youth," said Mr Reynolds.
The Youth Forum Convener Mr Ncedo Kumbaca encouraged the newly elected youth forum executive and the youth at large to improve their skills level so that they can become better people in the future.
"One of the critical tasks we need to perform as the youth forum is to revolutionalise the Department of Transport as an institution and try to inject new thinking because," said Mr Kumbaca.
