Eastern Cape trains Public Liaison Officers for the Presidential Hotline

As part of president Jacob Zuma’s directive to create an interactive, accessible and responsive government to service delivery hiccups, the Eastern Cape Presidential Hotline unit within the Office of the Premier has vigorously responded to this directive by training 55 Public Liaison Officers from all municipalities and all the provincial departments including a Senior Manager responsible for Presidential Hotline/ customer care in the Office of the Premier, Sinethemba Mashalaba.

The training of these Public Liaison Officials was officially opened by Deputy Director-General, Litha Geza, who emphasised that the Presidential Hotline was not something new but an extension of the customer care unit that will utilise the intelligence of the dedicated public servants who are capable to carry out this mammoth task. She added that these are some of the efforts to improve on the services offered by the government and to continuously make steady improvements on the service delivery hiccups encountered.

The officials received training on the investigation of citizen complaints reported to the hotline and they will also have the responsibility of following up the public enquiries and complaints lodged and ensure that all are attended to efficiently. The officials will directly report all the investigations, enquiries and complaints lodged to the Senior Manager for Presidential Hotline/ customer care in the Office of the Premier Sinethemba Mashalaba.
