Eastern Cape Safety and Liaison on taking bold steps to intensify the fight against crime

The Department of Safety and Liaison is taking bold steps to intensify the fight against crime

The Department of Safety and Liaison (DSL) has started to take bold steps in the fight against crime through a multi-disciplinary approach. This includes bringing on board key various stakeholders such as community members, religious organizations, business community and traditional leaders. It is envisaged that the involvement of these key stakeholders will give impetus to the proper functionality of the Community Safety Forum. The initiative aims to deal head on with the criminal activities that are prevalent in the affected communities.

The Mhlontlo Local Municipality which is made up of two towns namely: Tsolo and Qumbu, is hard hit by criminal activities ranging from stock theft, house breaking, armed robbery, rape and murder.

A two day workshop has been scheduled to bring back to life the Community Safety Forums in the two towns as follows:
Venue: Tsolo Community Hall
Time : 9 H00 am
Date: 21 and 22 September 2017
