In terms of Rule 66 of the Standing Rules of the Legislature, the Chairpersons of Committees must be appointed by the Rules Committee. The leadership of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature met in the first meeting of the Rules Committee of the 5th Term in Port Elizabeth today to consider the appointment of Chairpersons of its Portfolio Committees.
The Rules Committee agreed that Portfolio Committees should be clustered and also to be aligned with the clustering of government Departments.
