Eastern Cape Premier Noxolo Kiviet has joined the global campaign for recognition and celebration of women’s achievements in a statement issued today. She highlighted women’s indelible contribution to political, economic and social development achievements made by many countries of the world including South Africa and the Eastern Cape.
Premier Kiviet also singled out high numbers of incidents where women, children, the elderly and disabled people get raped, violated, murdered and emotionally abused as a serious concern requiring everybody’s contribution.
She made a commitment to ensure that law enforcement agencies and other state institutions leave no stone unturned to prevent and also combat the scourge.
