Eastern Cape Premier Ms Noxolo Kiviet delivers Christmas gifts to 500 poor families

Eastern Cape Premier Ms Noxolo Kiviet has today given gift vouchers worth R170 000 to 500 poor families in the Libode (OR Tambo District). Senior Manager Presidential Hotline in the Office of the Premier told beneficiaries that the Premier wants to ensure that they also enjoy the festive season like the rest of other people in the province.

He said:"'many of our people live in poverty and this programme is meant to to show them that the government of the Eastern Cape cares about them and will continue to do more to lift them out of poverty. We call on other citizens of our province to show ubuntu and share with the less fortunate during this festive season. Let us rekindle the old adage that says your child is my child and ensure that we accelerate the work of achieving a poverty  free Eastern Cape".

Included in the grocery packs are items such as 10kgs for rice, sugar, mealie meal, samp and other items. The Premier together with South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) have invested over R1 500 000.00 in the programme this year benefiting over 900 families in the province. People from Libode, Lusikisiki, Qumbu, Flagstaff were on hand to recieve  thier goodies today.
