As part of her contribution to the government’s Youth Month Programme, the Eastern Cape MEC for Transport, Thandiswa Marawu handed over carwash equipment to two car washes during Youth Month Commemoration/Executive Council Outreach Programme held in Graaff-Reinet on 4 July 2012.
“I am handing over this equipment to ensure the economic participation by young people in our province, turning car-washing into a professional business. The handing over of this equipment is in line with this year’s youth month focus, which is on social, economic and infrastructure development,” said Marawu.
These carwashes are 100% young black owned with the view of creating other businesses in other parts of the province and will look to instill values in youth such as:
- providing uncompromising service to clients
- to be a leader of carwash in the country
- to provide quality customer satisfaction
- joining hands with other emerging SMMEs.
The department has spent R12, 000 to provide the necessary equipment to these carwashes which include:
- vacuum cleaners
- detergents
- tyre shine
- set of dashboard cleaner
- car spray
- water pipes
- clothes and metal trunks
