Eastern Cape Health in collaboration with Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture hosted the third provincial Annual Sports Tournament

Eastern Cape Health in conjunction with the Department of Sport, Recreation Arts and Culture hosted the third provincial Annual Sports Tournament. The tournament was held in different venues around Bisho and King Williams Town, on 2 October 2009.

The purpose for the tournament was to promote physical wellness, team building and good working relations amongst government officials. One of the objectives was to select a team to represent Eastern Cape provincial government on 23 to 24 November 2009 in Durban.

Soccer, netball, tennis, table tennis, pool table and tug-of-war were some of the sport code played in the tournament. The Eastern Cape Department of Health played very well in the tournament, as some players managed to be selected as part of the team.

Mr L Bongco, Manager for the Eastern Cape Health team, said the importance of sport to our people brings competitive environment and increases social interaction, and ensures a stress free environment.
