Eastern Cape Department of Education's (ECDoE) management spend their 67 minutes at two Zwelitsha High Schools

Eastern Cape Department of Education’s (ECDoE) Head of Department (HoD) Advocate Modidima Mannya together with senior management of the department, helped make a difference by giving up 67 minutes of their time spearheaded by Special Programmes Unit (SPU) on 29 July 2011.

Addressing learners at Xolani High School in Zwelitsha, Mannya said “Every time Tata uNelson Mandela met rich people, he would ask them to build a school.” He was passionate about education. Mannya went on to say, “we need to respect our teachers, our parents, ourselves and then we will learn to respect our schools.” Let Mandela be our example.

The SPU organised the planting of trees and cutting of grass at two local schools in Zwelitsha to beautify them. The two schools are Thembalabantu and Xolani High School. The HOD and his entourage were all hands on, planting trees and then moving on to weed eaters, where they cut the grass in the school yard.
