The roadblock was intended to focus on Traffic Law Enforcement activities in the area with the view of reducing fatalities, and contribute to Operation Kwanele which is currently running on the N2. On that day, scores of motorists are expected to be on the road going back to their various places of work.
With scores of people expected to be on the road going back home from their holiday destinations and to their places of work, the roadblock was also aimed at checking:
- Roadworthiness of vehicles
- Overloading
- Speeding
- Wearing of Safety Belts
- Driver Fatigue
- Illegal substances and weapons
