The Gauteng Department of Education recently received a used mobile library vehicle as a donation from a non-profit organisation (NGO) in Japan.
A non-profit organisation, established under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan, donated one used mobile library vehicle to the MM Learner Teacher Support Material directorate at the Gauteng Department of Education head office. The South African Primary Education Support initiative (SAPESI) coordinated the donation.
The bus will be used to render a mobile library service to primary schools in the remote and disadvantaged areas of Gauteng. The main objective of the service is to support teaching and learning in schools by providing access to curriculum related library resources. The mobile library is also an extension of the education library services and is partially funded by the General Education Development Test (GEDT).
The department is thrilled with the donation and is looking forward to a continuous partnership with SAPESI.
